Gift of Bacon

The Gift of Bacon is a pig:). We want to start a livestock sharing program in the village. The people of Kamengo do not own livestock. They can't afford to buy and support a breeding program. Our plan is to maintain the breeding stock and give out piglets as they are born.
For $50 you can help us get this program going.

Gift of Water

Would you like to give the Gift of Water? There is a well in Kamengo, but it is very far away for some of the elderly people in the village. Sunday we started a water delivery program for the elderly people in the village that can't walk to and from the well carrying a jerry can of water. We have hired 3 of boys to deliver the water to these families. If you would like to pay for the delivery service it only costs $10 a month. We will be more than happy to send a certificate to the recipient of your sponsorship. Please make donations via the PayPal donate button at the right.

Double Take

When Pastor Brian sent me this picture this morning I had to do a double take.

I was trying to figure out where the picture was taken. The inside of the church was beautiful!!!

Then I saw the canes sticking up in the back ground and I still couldn't believe it. It was Exodus Ministry Church!!!

I can't believe that a little over a week ago, it looked like this.

I would also like to thank Mercy for Mamas for the donation of Mama Kits, 25 women received kits and more were given to Mama Florence.

Please continue to pray for Exodus Ministry Church and the people of Kamengo.

Amazed

I am continually amazed by the people of Kamengo-ffunvu. One of the Exodus Ministry Church members donated land for the construction of a new church.
It didn't take the members long to clear a road to the property and get busy with construction.

It looks like everyone is enjoying the first service in their new home.

The choir has beautiful new uniforms!

I can't wait to join them for a service.

Please continue to pray for this new church and our new brothers and sisters in Christ.

Getting these guys outfitted is our gooooaaaalllll!

Look at who is in the Newspaper

The kids were all set to start school thanks to your support. Unfortunately, there is a teacher strike in Uganda. Hopefully the strike will end soon and the kids can get started. Bukedde, the Luganda language newspaper, interviewed a few of the parents and our in-country director, Brian Tuwereza, on their thoughts about the strike.

Please pray that the strike is over very soon!

Preparing for Labor Day

Today is Labor Day in the US. A day spent with family and friends, bar-b-q, homemade ice cream, and plenty of fun.

This weekend in Kamengo they were preparing for labor day, but a different kind of labor. In Uganda, women giving birth are required to bring their own birthing supplies with them. These supplies include plastic sheeting to give birth on, a razor blade to cut the umbilical cord, twine to tie the cord off with, soap to wash with, and other items for the new mom and baby. Most of the women in Uganda can't afford to buy these things. Thankfully through your donations we were able to provide 30 birthing kits to women in Kamengo.

We were also able to give a few kits to Mama Florence, the midwife in the village, to help out when women aren't able to provide their own kit.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers!!

We are still taking donations for school sponsorships. Help us send the kids of Kamengo to school!!!

Then they had some yummy cake.

If you would like to continue the celebration, and give the kids a great birthday present, please consider sponsoring a child in school. See the post below for details.

Back to School!!

Those 3 words are powerful. They strike excitement/dread into every teacher's heart:) In Uganda, it is hope! Children in Uganda will choose school over almost anything. They know the power of education. It means a better job, a better life, a better future.

School hear in the US is just starting back. Parents have been buying new pencils, paper, glue, scissors, clothes, sneakers, and sometimes even laptops or tablets. Hundreds of dollars are spent just on clothing, sometimes 1 piece of clothing or pair of shoes.

School in Uganda is on break. But it starts back in a month. We want to take the next month and see how many children in Kamengo we can get back in school. Some of the kids have been able to go to school for a while, but have had to drop out because their parents can't pay the tuition or buy the uniforms. Most of them have never been able to go to school at all. The cost of tuition, uniform, shoes and supplies for a year of school is $100. Just $100, to educate a child in Kamengo for a year. A WHOLE ENTIRE YEAR!!!

We are looking for sponsors for some of the village children. For $100 you could change a child's future forever. When was the last time you could make that kind of impact for $100?

Who can resist this smile? We will send you a photo and information on the child you sponsor. We will give you updates as we get them.

If you would like to sponsor a child, you can send payment via paypal or mail a check to Olwazzi at the address at the right. If you would like to sponsor, but can't send $100 you can send $50 now and $50 in January. If you have any questions, please email us at olwazzi@yahoo.com.

Thank you for your prayers and support for the village!!

Take Delight in the Lord

The following Psalm has been coming up a lot. I love it when God gives you a message. Then when you don't get it, He gives it to you again.

The desire of my heart is to see the people of Kamengo come to know Christ. But I had forgotten to 'take delight in the Lord'. I hope that never happens again.

Please enjoy the pictures of the people in Kamengo taking delight in the Lord.

Psalm 37

1 Do not fret because of those who are evil
or be envious of those who do wrong;
2 for like the grass they will soon wither,
like green plants they will soon die away.

3 Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

5 Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
your vindication like the noonday sun.

7 Be still before the Lord
and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.

8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret—it leads only to evil.
9 For those who are evil will be destroyed,
but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.

10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more;
though you look for them, they will not be found.
11 But the meek will inherit the land
and enjoy peace and prosperity.

12 The wicked plot against the righteous
and gnash their teeth at them;
13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
for he knows their day is coming.

14 The wicked draw the sword
and bend the bow
to bring down the poor and needy,
to slay those whose ways are upright.
15 But their swords will pierce their own hearts,
and their bows will be broken.

16 Better the little that the righteous have
than the wealth of many wicked;
17 for the power of the wicked will be broken,
but the Lord upholds the righteous.

18 The blameless spend their days under the Lord’s care,
and their inheritance will endure forever.
19 In times of disaster they will not wither;
in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.

20 But the wicked will perish:
Though the Lord’s enemies are like the flowers of the field,
they will be consumed, they will go up in smoke.

21 The wicked borrow and do not repay,
but the righteous give generously;
22 those the Lord blesses will inherit the land,
but those he curses will be destroyed.

23 The Lord makes firm the steps
of the one who delights in him;
24 though he may stumble, he will not fall,
for the Lord upholds him with his hand.

25 I was young and now I am old,
yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken
or their children begging bread.
26 They are always generous and lend freely;
their children will be a blessing.[b]

27 Turn from evil and do good;
then you will dwell in the land forever.
28 For the Lord loves the just
and will not forsake his faithful ones.

Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed[c];
the offspring of the wicked will perish.
29 The righteous will inherit the land
and dwell in it forever.

30 The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom,
and their tongues speak what is just.
31 The law of their God is in their hearts;
their feet do not slip.

32 The wicked lie in wait for the righteous,
intent on putting them to death;
33 but the Lord will not leave them in the power of the wicked
or let them be condemned when brought to trial.

34 Hope in the Lord
and keep his way.
He will exalt you to inherit the land;
when the wicked are destroyed, you will see it.

35 I have seen a wicked and ruthless man
flourishing like a luxuriant native tree,
36 but he soon passed away and was no more;
though I looked for him, he could not be found.

37 Consider the blameless, observe the upright;
a future awaits those who seek peace.[d]
38 But all sinners will be destroyed;
there will be no future[e] for the wicked.

39 The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord;
he is their stronghold in time of trouble.
40 The Lord helps them and delivers them;
he delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
because they take refuge in him.

Bono Shares the Good News!!!!

My hope is that Olwazzi will be a part of ending poverty in Uganda. We will not cave in to the 3 things that could jeopardize this momentum: corruption, inequality, and apathy.

Our prayer is that you will join us!!! Find somewhere that you can work to help end global poverty by 2028!!!!
